Our world is not an island. Every corner of the earth seems to be experiencing some extreme climate challenges. In early July, the Netherlands and Germany were hit by heavy rains and floods. After a few days, it was our turn to rain heavily in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, which poured down all the annual rainfall in just a few days. In the same week, India also experienced the strongest rainfall in 50 years, causing disasters such as floods and mudslides.
On August 9th, the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released the report "Climate Change 2021: Natural Science Basis", which raised the "red alert" for climate change. The report stated that all regions of the world will face the test of intensified climate change in the coming decades. Due to global warming, extreme high temperatures that occurred only once every 50 years in the past are now expected to occur once every six years. At the same time, heavy rains and droughts will become more frequent, bringing greater challenges to agriculture and human health.
From the heavy rains in Zhengzhou to the climate "red warning", how humans will deal with extreme weather has become an important issue that needs to be resolved urgently.
It is worth noting that the Henan flood disaster reflects the problems existing in the flood control engineering system, and has accelerated the construction of a series of related major water conservancy projects. From 2020 to 2022, we will focus on promoting the construction of 150 major water conservancy projects, including five categories including flood control and disaster reduction, optimal allocation of water resources, irrigation water saving and water supply, water ecological protection and restoration, and smart water conservancy, with a total investment of 1.29 trillion yuan.
As an important part of the "two new and one heavy" construction for a period of time in the future, the construction of major water conservancy projects will also drive the increase in demand for machinery and equipment.
In fact, different countries have also formulated corresponding countermeasures for the drainage problem of big cities. Such as Germany's integrated system for water storage and sewage disposal, Japan's "underground palaces" spit out heavy rain, and my country's "sponge city" construction plan.
